Lucas Lima ‘Time For Me To Think About Myself’

Santos playmaker Lucas Lima has again thrown his Santos future into question by suggesting that it is ‘time for me to think about myself.’ Lima has been consistently linked with a move to Europe and has had several high profile offers from China in the last 2 years.

Lima is involved in Tite’s Brazil squad and very much has an eye on staying in contention for the 2018 World Cup. At the back end of 2015, Lima was being linked with the top clubs in Europe, but he decided against a move to the old continent.

Lima is still in demand and suggests that he is happy at Santos, but still considering his options, “We talked recently, the president and I. I said I was going to discuss the situation with my parents. My desire is to stay, if it is good for me and Santos.

“I had this conversation and I told the president that my desire is to stay, but it's also time for me to think about myself.” Any deal to sell Lima would be complicated by the fact that investment fund Doyen owns 80% of the player’s economic rights.
