Grêmio’s Director of Football Odorico Roman has admitted that his club would be interested in bringing Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva back to Porto Allegre, but suggests a move will be very difficult to complete.
Lucas has been linked with an exit from Anfield for much of the last year, with loan moves to Inter and AC Milan mooted during the January transfer window. The 30 year old stayed with the club, but his former team Grêmio are studying a proposal to bring him back.
Leiva left Grêmio for Liverpool a decade ago and Odorico confessed that the Brazilian club would like to bring him back, “Lucas Leiva is a player that Grêmio fans remember fondly from the past, he would be an important signing.
“But I do not want to feed false expectations, he is outside of our possibilities at the moment. It would be very difficult for Lucas to come to Grêmio, the conditions are very tough for this transfer to happen.”
