Klopp ‘could never be friends’ with Diego Costa

Chelsea defender David Luiz was satisfied with a point at Anfield on Tuesday night, as Chelsea stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points. Luiz opened the scoring with a quickly taken free-kick, but Wijnaldum equalised for the home side in the second half.

Luiz said the Blues could be happy with a draw, despite also missing a penalty during the contest, “It’s never easy to play here and to win points here,” he told Chelsea’s official website, “We had the opportunity to win the game and we were unlucky we didn’t win.

“But the other team also played very well in possession, they have amazing players. This is the atmosphere that when you are a footballer you need to be happy you have the opportunity to play this kind of game. It’s always very nice to come here and play football.

“In the end, if you look at everything, I think it was a good result and a good point. It gives us confidence before Arsenal.” Chelsea play Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime. Luiz was also delighted with his free-kick goal, his first since rejoining Chelsea in the summer.

“It’s been a long time! Sometimes you need to try the surprise. I saw he was not in position so I tried to surprise him. Sometimes in the game you need to feel the game and see the opportunity. I was happy because I did well.”
