Brazil Squad Announced

Brazil coach Tite has explained the surprise inclusion of 32 year old Flamengo midfielder Diego Ribas in his squad for March qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay. Ribas was a shock inclusion, but Tite suggested that the player’s work rate left an impression on the Seleção coach.

Ribas was part of a domestic based squad that played a charity friendly against Colombia in January, with proceeds going to families of the players that died in the Chapocoense air crash in November. The seriousness with which he took the game impressed Tite.

“When we talk about attitude, there are a lot of things in the air. I will give you some information on what is a good attitude and what elevates high level athletes. Diego trained while on vacation. He prepared like a high level athlete,

“His technical performance within Flamengo credited him. We seek, we follow. Diego came onto the pitch, prepared, and played very seriously against Colombia. The Flamengo games credited him after that.”
