Brazil defender João Miranda says that the absence of Luis Suarez will do little to dilute Uruguay’s style ahead of the World Cup qualifier between the teams in Montevideo on Thursday. The Inter defender is still expecting a tough game, even with the Barcelona man suspended.
“Uruguay has a big loss without Suárez, but their style of play does not change: they fight for every ball when they don’t have it. It's a tough style and we are prepared to face it.”
Miranda has been a mainstay of a Seleção side that has conceded just once in their last 6 qualifiers, but he insists this is the result of a concerted team effort- starting with Brazil’s star studded forward line.
“Our attackers are the first defenders, they lose the ball and try to press fast. It is an organized team, that does not give up while it does not have the ball, it tries to rest with the ball. It is mentally very strong and this helps a lot to organise the defence.
“Today we want to be sure that the Brazilian national team is playing at their level. This is our job, to make each player play to his level. We respect Uruguay, but we will go there searching for victory,” concluded the centre-back.
