Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus can play as a strike pairing if the occasion grants it. The two occupy a similar role and have tended to operate as lone strikers in City’s system.
19-year old Jesus had even won his place upfront ahead of the Argentine prior to breaking a metatarsal in February. Aguero has been in good form since the injury to the young Brazilian, who is ready to play in tonight’s Manchester derby for the first time in nearly 3 months.
But Guardiola denies that it is always strictly a case of choosing between Jesus and Aguero. In his pre Manchester derby press conference, Guardiola told reporters, “Yeah, they can play together.
“It depends on the way we want to play. If you want to play without wingers - more narrow - they can play. All the players can play together.”
