Ceará
Foundation and early days
The inception
The club was established on June 2, 1914, in the streets of Fortaleza's historic neighborhoods. Originally named Rio Branco Football Club, it quickly transitioned to Ceará Sporting Club due to challenges in acquiring jerseys that matched the initial color scheme.
The mascot and nickname
Interestingly, the team's mascot is a grandpa. This unique choice stemmed from a former president, Meton de Alencar Pinto, who affectionately referred to young athletes as his grandchildren. Thus, "Vovô" (Grandpa) became an integral part of the club's identity.
