Early Life and Youth Career

Lucas Pezzini Leiva was born on January 9, 1987, in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. He began his youth career at Amparo in 2001 and later joined Grêmio in 2004, where he developed his skills as a box-to-box midfielder.

Professional Club Career

Grêmio

Lucas made his professional debut with Grêmio in 2005. During his time at the club, he won the Campeonato Gaúcho in 2006 and 2007. His impressive performances earned him the Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball) as the best player in the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2006, making him the youngest recipient of the award.

Liverpool

Lucas transferred to Liverpool in July 2007 for a fee of around £6 million. He played 347 matches for the club over a decade, winning the League Cup in 2012.
