Arena Corinthians Return “Will Not Be A Party” Insists Paulinho

Brazil hat trick hero Paulinho insists that Tuesday night’s qualifier against Paraguay “will not be a party.” The Seleção are now 7 points clear at the top of the CONMEBOL table and almost assured qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

Paulinho, who grabbed a hat trick against Uruguay in Montevideo on Thursday, says that Tuesday will be no party. He, Renato Augusto and Fagner are set to start at Arena Corinthians, where the three players forged their reputations under coach Tite.

But Paulinho insists victory is the most important thing, “It's not going to be a party. It will be another great game. Let's go for the victory.” However, his teammate Renato Augusto admits that it will be special to return to his old hunting ground in São Paulo.

“It's a place where I was very happy, it is my home. It will certainly be a special day. As we play together, things get easier. Against Uruguay, we were tactically perfect. It was the first time we went behind in a game (under Tite) and we were calm.”

Renato Augusto left Corinthians a year ago to play for Beijing Guoan. Paulinho is also in China now with Ghangzou Evergrande, having spent two unhappy seasons at Tottenham Hotspur.
